Who Are Beta Squad? Meet the Five Behind the Channel
If you've ever lost an afternoon to a video where five friends try to outdo each other, there's a good chance it was Beta Squad. But who are they, and how did it all start? Here's a quick guide for new viewers and longtime fans.
Who are Beta Squad?
Beta Squad is a group of five British YouTubers: Chunkz, Niko Omilana, Sharky, AJ Shabeel and King Kenny. Each of them had a channel of his own first. Together they make challenges, pranks and guessing games, and the joke usually lands on whoever loses.
How did it start?
In February 2019 the five moved into a shared house and launched a joint channel. Early videos were challenges like trying to live on £1 for a day, and the members' solo channels grew right alongside the group one.
Where can you watch them?
The main channel. Beta Squad is where the big group videos land.
Beta Squad Shorts and More Beta. Two more group channels, for short clips and extra content.
Their own channels. Every member also runs channels of his own, so there's always something to catch up on.
The charity match
On 2 June 2024 Beta Squad played a charity football match against AMP at Selhurst Park, with the money going to The Water Project. Five YouTubers, a real stadium and a lot of fans in the stands.
Why fans love them
It's the chemistry. Five friends, one idea and nobody willing to lose. Watching them feels like being in the room when a group chat turns into a competition.
Wear it
Every piece at Beta Squad Merch is printed to order on tees, hoodies, sweatshirts and kids' sizes, with the green B, the logos and the lettering fans know.
